Road Championships 2020: How to get involved and race one update

After the club's inaugural Road championships last year we're back for round two in 2020. However, before we reveal the scores on the doors, a big hand to the winners from last year:

In the men's category, Andrew Jackson came away with first place overall for the season, pipping Matt Kitching to the title. Sam Sutherland took the bronze. The women's section, meanwhile, was won by Karima Harris, with Jen Armson the runner up and Michelle Maddick rounding off the top three.

So how does it all work?

We are publishing a list of mostly local, often club-run events that vary in distance and profile. The aim: to bring us all together, racing the same races as much as possible.

For the competitive among you, we will be recording everyone's results, adjusting these for age grading (à la parkrun) and provided you have a minimum of six results (top six results count) you will be entered into a Club Road Championship with a male and female Road Champion to be announced at the 2020 Christmas Party.

Check out the Club Road Championships page to find a list of club road races for 2020 and scout out which events you might want to enter.

Race one update

With January nearly over we've already had our first race of the season, the Fred Hughes 10 in St Albans. It's very early in the year, however for posterity here are the standings after event one:

Think your name should be on the leaderboard? We probably don't have the details we need from you to calculate your score. If so, contact Road Championships captain Jen Armson with your details and you will be added to the table.

The next race on the calendar will be the Watford Half on February 2. See you there!
