On the 4th of July, 15 runners lined up for the first of our Summer Track Time Trials.
After a brilliant training session the week before - thanks Jen! - Everyone was ready to put a time on the board to try and beat at the medal races in September.
There was drama.
There was lactic.
And there was almost a photo finish...
The runners were split into three races and here are the results:
Race One
Ayo D - 2 minutes 11.76 seconds
Ruben C - 2-11.99
James W - 2-22.00
Charlie L - 2-30.00
John B - 2-36.29
Mark G - 2-45.00
Race Two
Hardik - 2-41.25
Andy M - 2-45.87
Ellie K - 2-45.89
Lisa F - 2-58.81
Gus - 2-59.54
Race Three
Peter R - 2-58.48
Rob B - 3-02.29
Philip V - 3-33.87
Emma S - 3-46.65
Afterwards, President Emma Sutherland had this to say for anyone thinking of joining for the next event:
"Don't go thinking that track racing is just for the front runners... It's for everyone! It's fun, it's over a lot more quickly than longer races and it's great for improving your speed all round! I was last in the 800m time trial, but I did it and now I have a benchmark for next time! Plus everyone else was there to cheer me in, which you don't get if you're first! Don't let anything put you off giving it a go, remember that most of you run track every week... It's no different to your sessions really!"
Own time trials
We had 2 runners who couldn’t make it on the night but did it on their own:
- Susan - 3-25
- Rupert - 2-55
All are welcome and encouraged to attend, this is a great way to try track racing without the pressure.
The dates for the future time trains are:
1500m - Training session on 25th July, time trial on 1st August.
3000m - Training session on 15th August, time trial on 22nd August.
Any questions at all, ask your track captains - Lisa, James, Sam or Sophie.
