For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Summer League, it is a series of five friendly running events held by a group of 9 like-minded London running clubs each summer.
Each fixture consists of:
An all-abilities 5 mile or 10K race for adults (ages 15+).
A fun run aimed at children under 6.
A "tenderfoot race" aimed at 6–14 year olds.
Relay races. Each leg is about 300-400m long. There are races for men's, women's and mixed teams. Adults and children compete together.
A picnic provided by the host club (CAKE!).
It's a great opportunity to get to know other your fellow Harriers, cheer your club mates on and most importantly... eat lots of cake!
All runners get points for the club, with bonus points for the higher age catergories and kids. You definitely don't have to be fast to compete... it's the taking part and having fun that counts!
The first of the series is on 3rd June at Perivale Park, where we will collect our Winners trophy from last year! Come along, run and celebrate with us after!!
Race times:
Open Race (5 miles) - 10:00am
Tenderfoot (1,500m approx) - 11:05am
400m Fun Run - 11:20am
Relays - 12:00am
Course:
The 5 mile open race is a 2-lap course onroads and paths in and around Perivale Park. The course is flat, mainly on footpaths. The Tenderfoot and relays will take place entirely within the park.
Changing and toilets:
Changing and toilet facilities will be available in the clubhouse at the track, near to the Start/Finish area, and should be open from 09:00am onwards. Please do not use the track for warming up unless you have paid the entry fee. Please also ensure the facilities are left as clean and tidy as you found them.
Location:
Perivale Park (UB6 8TJ is located at the end of Stockdove Way, just off Argyle Road. The nearest tube station is Perivale (Central Line) which is about a 15 minute walk away.
Alternatively, the park is around 2 miles from Ealing Broadway, from where a bus can be taken.
Please note that South Greenford Rail Station is not in operation on Sundays.
If travelling by car, there is limited parking available at Perivale Park and street parking along Stockdale Way and the surrounding roads.
